Artistic Gymnastics

The Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Team will take to the floor for their qualification session in subdivision five at 5:10am AEST (Monday 29 July). Fielding a full team of five for the first time since London 2012, the team will be looking to break into the top eight and qualify for the Team Final. Canoe Slalom

Australian flagbearer Jessica Fox is back in action at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium in the Women’s K1 Slalom semi-final.

She qualified as the fastest paddler, setting a time of 92.18 seconds in her second qualifying run. In the semi-final from 11.30pm AEST (28 July), heat times are scrapped, with the top 10 paddlers advancing to the final at 1.45am AEST (29 July).

Jessica is the World Champion in the K1 and has won three Olympic medals in this event - silver in London and bronze in Rio and Tokyo.

Cycling - Mountain Bike

Rebecca Henderson takes to the Paris 2024 cross-country course in her fourth consecutive Olympic appearance.

Elencourt Hill is expected to be a challenging course, with each 4.4km loop including a climb of 110 metres per lap. Read the full mountain bike preview here

Equestrian - Eventing

Australia’s equestrian team will tackle the crucial cross-country phase on day two of the eventing competition, which consists of 28 obstacles placed throughout the stunning Château de Versailles gardens.

Christopher Burton is in equal third place following the Dressage phase, and with his reputation as the fastest man in eventing, he is a hot favourite on his horse, Shadow Man.
“It’s a tough game with a lot of rough and tumble, but he is a safe jumper, and you just have to enjoy what you've got while you're here,” Burton said.

The cross-country competition starts at 6.30pm AEST, with Shane Rose, Virgil, the second rider on course. Kevin McNab, Don Quidam, will also be looking to move up the individual and team standings in the cross-country.

Football

The French Riviera will be the backdrop for the Matildas second Group B match of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament when they take on Zambia on Sunday night at the Stade de Nice.

Australia are looking to bounce back against the African heavyweights, who are participating in their second Olympic Games. Kick-off will be at 3am AEST Sunday 29 July. Read the full match preview here.

Hockey

The Hockeyroos play South Africa to open their 2024 campaign. The last time they played at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Australians won 5-0 but coach Katrina Powell expects a tough opening encounter in Paris.

“We'll have to be ready right from the start so that there aren't any surprises,” Katrina said.

Rowing

Australia’s champion women’s pairs crew of Annabelle McIntyre and Jessica Morrison commence their Olympic campaign on Sunday.

The silver medallists at the 2023 and 2022 World Championships, will race in the third and final heat at the Vaire-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium, east of Paris.

The two Rowsellas, both members of the Tokyo 2020 gold medal-winning four, are strong favourites to progress given their pedigree and the rankings of the other crews in their heat. The Greeks should prove to be their strongest challengers.

The first three finishers will progress to the semi-finals, with the rest to race the repechage.

The Australian pair is the first of four crews to race in their heats on Sunday. Those other events, in order of scheduled time, are the Men’s Pairs (Patrick Holt, Simon Keenan), Women’s Four (Olympia Aldersey, Lily Alton, Molly Goodman, Jean Mitchell) and Men’s Four (Fergus Hamilton, Alexander Hill, Tim Masters, Jack Robertson).

Rugby Sevens

The Australian Women’s Rugby Sevens Team begin its campaign at Stade de France on Sunday.

Buoyed by their great year, recent Sevens Championship title in Madrid, and the strong form of the Aussie men in Paris, it is time to get down to business.

Australia play their opening match against South Africa at midnight on Sunday AEST and then their second match of the day against Great Britain at 3:30am Monday morning AEST.

The clash against Team GB will be particularly interesting as the Brits beat the Aussies in the pool stages of the Perth World Series event in late January.

Sailing

Sunday is day one of the Olympic Sailing Regatta, which will be held from the Marseille Marina. Sailors will be based there for their racing on the Mediterranean Sea.

The Men’s Windsurfing, Men’s Skiff and Women’s Skiff are the first three events contested. The action starts at 8:30pm AEST with Men’s Windsurfing debuting new hydro-foiling boards and an updated format. Read the full sailing preview here.

Shooting

Day 2 of the Shooting Competition coming up from the National Shooting Centre in Chateauroux with the 10M Air Rifle Men's Qualification round, featuring Jack Rossiter and Dane Sampson

Competition commences at 7:15pm AEST, with the final to be held on 29 July for the top 8 qualifiers.

Skateboarding

While most Aussie teenagers are returning to school this week, Chloe Covell is getting ready to compete on the world’s biggest sporting stage.

While admitting to some pre-Games nerves, the 14-year-old skateboarding prodigy couldn’t hide her excitement ahead of her Olympic debut in Paris on Sunday 28 July.

Chloe will compete alongside fellow debutants Haylie Powell (18) and Liv Lovelace (20).

Women’s street preliminaries begin at 8pm AEST on 28 July at the Place de la Concorde, with the final beginning at 1am AEST on 29 July.

Surfing

Australian surfers Ethan Ewing and Jack Robinson were among the first in the water on the sunny shores of Tahiti, with Ethan progressing to the round of 16.

Ethan, first in the water for Australia in round one heat one, put together a solid score off his opening barrel ride with a score of 7.33.

He went on to win the heat with the final score of 9.90, putting him in a strong position as he directly progresses through to the round of 16.

Teammate Jack Robinson was also in action, and started off well posting a 6.83 for his opening ride.

Unfortunately, for Jack, he was beaten at the last moment by Duru (FRA) by the smallest of margins, just .48. As a result, Jack will face the elimination round of competition tomorrow.

In the women's event, Tyler Wright won her first ever Olympic heat and has progressed to Round 3 with a score of 7.67.

Molly Picklum will compete in Round 2 of the #Paris2024 competition in Tahiti.

Gold medallists from day one are back in action. Emma McKeon will contest the 100m butterfly final, while Ariarne Titmus will be back in the pool with Mollie O’Callaghan in the heats of the 200m freestyle.

Heats start at 7pm AEST and Finals from 4.30am AEST Sunday 29 July

Tennis

Day two at Roland Garros will see Alexei Popyrin make his Olympic debut, the world No.46 facing No.16 seed Nicolas Jarry (CHI) in the men’s singles first round.

Ajla Tomljanovic, Australia’s only representative in women’s singles, will take on world No.2 Coco Gauff (USA). Matt Ebden and three-time Olympian John Peers open their men’s doubles campaign against Lebanon’s Hady Habib and Benjamin Hassan.

Action is due to begin Sunday 28 July from 8pm AEST.

Water Polo

The Aussie Sharks are primed for their first game of the Paris Olympic Games against Spain on Sunday 28 July at 6:30pm AEST.

Co-captain Nathan Power said his team are looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead against reigning World Championship bronze medallists Spain.

The Aussie men have also drawn Serbia, Hungary, Japan and France in the group stage.
