Competing in the fifth World Cup of his career, Luke Deane has finished in 50th place on the testing giant slalom course at Adelboden.

Competing in the fifth World Cup of his career, Luke Deane has finished in 50th place on the testing giant slalom course at Adelboden.

Deane was 4.77 seconds behind the first run time of Swiss skier Didier Defago, who failed to finish the second run.

The gold medal went to Italian Massimiliano Blardone, the first of his career.

Runaway World Cup overall leader Bode Miller of the United States took silver, .18 seconds behind, with Finn Kalle Palander in third place.

Miller also leads the GS standings on 340 points from Canadian Thomas Grandi.
