Angela Donald has finished a fantastic fourth in the women's uneven parallel bars at Bishan Sports Halls on day 7 of the Youth Olympic Games.
Fourteen-year-old Donald, who is the youngest member of the Australian Youth Olympic Team, displayed the composure of more senior gymnast to produce a near flawless routine.
"I am so happy with my performance tonight," she said.
"I was not nervous at all before the competition. I was really looking forward to it and it was a lot of fun."
The tiny gymnast, who scored 12.975, knew she was up against some tough competition and had set realistic goals of herself.
"I just wanted to do my best tonight and that is what I did. I am really happy about that."
Donald's performance was followed by those of Tan from China and Komova from Russia.
Tan's routine was an extraordinary display of skill with a high degree of difficulty. Her performance was graceful and she received a total score of 14.125 from the judges.
The Russian was more aggressive on the bars, executing her routine quite quickly. Her's was also one of high difficulty and she won the gold with a score of 14.525.
"I will be working on upgrading my routines next year so they have a higher level of difficulty," Donald said.
The Victorian has been competing for a few years now but never in front of a crowd as large as at the Bishan Sports Hall.
"The crowd was so supportive. They inspired me to do my best," she said.
Donald will now contest the final of the beam tomorrow.
