Australian triathlon star Emma Snowsill will return to the scene of her greatest win next month at the world series grand final in Beijing.

The venue will be the same course where Snowsill won the Olympic gold medal three years ago and team-mate Emma Moffatt claimed bronze.

Snowsill is a three-time world champion and Moffatt has won the past two world series crowns, but they have not shown consistent top form this year.

The best Australian woman has been 20-year-old Emma Jackson, who is fifth in the world series rankings after her second place last weekend at the world sprint-distance championships in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Felicity Abram and Felicity Sheedy-Ryan will also be on the Australian women's elite team for the September 9-11 Beijing grand final.

"Our women's team have a terrific history at world championships and with four of them currently sitting inside the top 15 on world rankings, we are looking for the team to continue the tradition of winning," said Australian coach Shaun Stephens.

"Emma Jackson has been going from strength to strength this year and is riding a wave of confidence heading into Beijing after three top-five finishes in world championship series races.

"While Emma Snowsill and Emma Moffatt have had inconsistent years, they are both big-race performers and have shown glimpses of their previous dominating style of racing in the past two months."

The men's team will feature Beijing Olympians Brad Kahlefeldt and Courtney Atkinson, plus veteran Chris McCormack and rising star Brendan Sexton.

McCormack is continuing his return to Olympic-distance racing after winning the Hawaiian Ironman triathlon twice.

He was forced to pull out of the London Olympic triathlon test event earlier this month because of a hamstring injury.
