Sailing - 2024 ILCA 7 World Championships
Australia's world-renowned ILCA 7 squad will get the chance to prove their standing against the very best when their 2024 World Championships campaign begins on home waters in Adelaide next Wednesday 24 January.
Olympic and World champion Matt Wearn will lead an in-form Australian squad with fellow Aussies Luke Elliott (5th at the Nationals), Ethan McAullay (6th at 2023 European Championships), Finn Alexander (10th at 2023 European Championships) and Zac Littlewood (5th at 2021 World Championships) all ones to watch as the week progresses.
They will make up a strong field that includes 28 Australian entries, five past ILCA 7 World champions and another five World Championship medallists. The regatta will be hosted by the Adelaide Sailing Club, with six days of racing set to run through Wednesday 31 January.

Tennis - Australian Open
Aussie tennis action at the Australian Open (AO) goes into the middle tournament weekend with a record run by our women in doubles, who are enjoying their best results seen in 18 years at the AO.
World no. 10 player Alex de Minaur is heading into the third round on Friday against Italy's Flavio Cobolli after defeating world no. 41 Matteo Arnaldi.
Currently ranked 80th, Thanasi Kokkinakis is entering the second round against world no. 13 Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria.
Storm Hunter is set to go head-to-head against Czech Republic's Barbora Krejcikova in the third round of the women's singles; aiming to continue her best Grand Slam run of her singles career to date.
Ajla Tomljanovic is also in the third round against Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.
Nine Aussie women are through to the second round of the doubles competition, with Olivia Gadecki and Kimberly Birrell teaming up against Lyudmyla Kichenok (UKR) and Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) in the second round.
World no. 1 ranked doubles player Storm Hunter is teaming up with Katerina Siniakova from the Czech Republic to take on the second round of the women's doubles against fellow Aussies Destanee Aiava and Maddison Inglis.
The Taylah Preston and Arina Rodionova pairing, and Daria Saville and Ajla Tomljanovic are also through to the second round of the women's doubles.
Aleksandar Vukic and his Portuguese partner Nuno Borges are headed into the second round of the men’s doubles after defeating the Kazakhstani/Ecuadorian pair of Aleksandr Nedovyesov and Gonzalo Escobar in round one.
The mixed doubles competition kicks off tonight (Thursday 18 January) headlined by two of Australia’s best doubles players, world no.1 Storm Hunter and world no. 4 Matt Ebden. The duo takes on the pairing of Croatia’s Mate Pavić and Ukraine’s Lyudmyla Kichenok in front of a home crowd at 6:25pm in Melbourne.
