Cycling – Track Nations Cup
The Adelaide Super-Drome will host some of the world’s best track cyclists just five months out from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with the 2024 UCI Track Nations Cup from Friday 2 February to Sunday 4 February.
More than 300 riders from 40 countries will compete across multiple disciplines with results contributing to each nation's Olympic ranking determining how many athletes each country qualifies for Paris 2024.
Australian Cycling Team stars Matthew Richardson, Matthew Glaetzer, Georgia Baker and Alexandra Manly – competing in her home state – will compete across all six Olympic events, including the team pursuit and team sprint.

“Ever since I have been on a bike I have been in South Australia, I am proud to be a South Australian,” Alexandra said. “It is super special to compete here as we have never had a Nations Cup at home.”

Diving – World Championships
Australia’s top divers have headed to Doha, Qatar for the World Aquatics Championships in a last chance opportunity to claim the remaining Olympic quota spots for Australia at the upcoming Paris Olympic Games.
The competition begins on Friday 2 February with Australia hoping to secure quota spots in each of the men’s 3m springboard and women’s 10m platform – by finishing in the top 12 of eligible divers who have not already earned a quota spot or reached their country maximum quotas for that event.
Australia has already secured six of the eight possible individual quota spots through their results at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships and the 2023 Oceania Championships.
The team hopes to secure additional quotas in the men’s and women’s 3m and 10m synchronised events, by finishing in the top four of nations who have not already secured a quota in that event.
World champion 10m platform diver Cassiel Rousseau is teaming up with Rio 2016 Olympian Domonic Bedggood in the men’s 10m platform synchronised, whilst four-time Olympian Melissa Wu and Tokyo 2020 Olympian Nikita Hains will headline the women’s 10m platform synchronised event.
In the 3m springboard synchronised events, Tokyo 2020 Olympian Sam Fricker and Kurtis Mathews will compete for Australia in the men’s, with Rio 2016 bronze medallists Anabelle Smith and Maddison Keeney hoping to secure the women’s quota.

Marathon Swimming – World Championships
Marathon swimming at the 2024 World Aquatic Championships gets underway in Doha, Qatar from Saturday 3 February for the women and Sunday 4 February for the men.
Australia has already qualified and selected Rio 2016 Olympian Chelsea Gubecka to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the women’s 10km marathon swim after she placed second at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
Each nation can qualify a maximum of two men and two women for the 10km event at Paris 2024, so Australian athletes will be hoping to secure the one remaining women's quota and two men's quotas. The top-13 eligible finishers from each of the men's and women's event earn a Paris 2024 quota for their country – respecting the maximum qualifiers per country and those athletes who have already qualified.
Kyle Lee and Nicholas Sloman are competing in the men’s 10km event whilst Maddy Gough and Moesha Johnson will race in the women’s 10km to secure Australia additional quota positions at Paris 2024.

Hockey – Hockeyroos FIH Pro League season launch
The Hockeyroos are holding nothing back as they prepare to start their 2024 Olympic campaign at the FIH Pro League in India.
With matches in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, the Hockeyroos open season five of the FIH Pro League against China on Sunday 4 February, before taking on the United States, India, Netherlands and Spain over the next two weeks.
Hockeyroos head coach Katrina Powell is grateful to be travelling with a largely unchanged squad after a solid training block at the squad’s centralised High-Performance Centre in Perth.
“We’ve had a great start to the year and we’re building nicely as we begin our home run to the Games, and what better way to start than with a tough FIH Pro League series abroad,” Powell said.
WA’s Penny Squibb and NT’s Brooke Peris won’t travel with the squad as both players were unavailable for selection while they manage injury.
All eyes will be on a few fresh faces set to get their opportunity, including Queensland’s Dayle Dolkens who has earned a late call up to the side, and excitement is building around a likely debut for South Australia’s Lucy Sharman.
Lucy has enjoyed a whirlwind entry into the Hockeyroos set up, after an impressive season with the Adelaide Fire in last year’s Hockey One League and at the Jillaroos’ Junior World Cup.
“It is so unreal to be selected into the Hockeyroos this year,” Sharman said.
“When I got the email that I was selected for the squad, I was in Chile at the Junior World Cup just lying on my bed, FaceTiming my family and the email came through and I just burst into tears!”
“It’s such a dream of mine and I’m excited for what the year holds.”
Dayle Dolkens also earned her call up to the squad following a meteoric rise with the Brisbane Blaze in the Hockey One League, which put her on Powell’s radar just months after she was playing for her brother’s Div 1 men’s team in Townsville.
The Kookaburras will also play a handful of FIH Pro League matches in India from the 11th of February.
