FREESTYLE - AERIALS: Women’s bronze medallist Lydia Lassila was exhilarated for her training partner, David Morris, saying she was like a gorilla in a cage banging the signage and cheering when he won silver in the men's event at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park on Monday.

“I’m ecstatic for Dave. We train a lot together and feed each other energy and encouragement and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

“He’s such a great guy and he jumped his heart out tonight and he had a perfect performance.

“I know how he can jump and I knew if he had a great night he was going to get to that super-final and have a great performance. I’ve always had faith in Dave I’ve believed in him from the very beginning and he proved it tonight. He’s a legend, he’s been our only male competitor for a really long time, decades in fact.

“To have two aerial skiing medals. We are delivering and really we’ve been delivering year after year since Salt Lake City (2002) and it’s time to get us some facilities at home, what do you think?”

Chatting from her own Silver medal party Torah Bright's trademark smile was beaming.

"I am really excited for him this is amazing. Wow to be able to perform on that night where everyone is watching at the pinnacle of your sport I am just so excited for him and proud of him.

"I know hard it is to perform and get an Olympic medal. It’s not just that one night that everyone tunes in but you spend a lifetime preparing for this moment.

"He is a very sweet man. It’s been awesome to have bumped into him and ask him how his training is going."

Also at Bright's party was an ecstatic Chef de Mission Ian Chesterman.

"It is just great to be here with all the Aussies at the medal party for Torah. It was just brilliant.

"To get a silver medal and not just a bronze medal with the way it worked out.

"He had three really clean jumps and kept putting the pressure back on the others. I can’t think of a guy that deserves it more than Dave Morris."
