Nicholas Fernandez has finished in 17th place in the men’s event of the Four Continent Championship, in Goyang City, Korea.
Fernandez was lying in 15th place after the short program, but a free program that earned 68.63 points and rated 20th position dropped him two places overall.
The 17-year-old Sydney skater ended the competition on 109.77 points.
Fellow Australian Robert McNamara outskated his team-mate in the free program for 69.81 points, moving up to 20th place overall on 102.23 points.
The 2007 World Championship silver medallist Daisuke Takahashi of Japan won the event with a total score of 264.41 points.
Canada’s Torino bronze medallist Jeffery Buttle moved into second place with a total score of 234.02 points, while Four Continents defending champion Evan Lysacek of the US dropped from second to third on a total of 233.11 points.
Danielle O’Brien and Gregory Merriman finished in tenth place in the ice dancing competition on 121.86 points, while their compatriots Maria and Evgeni Boronouv finished in 13th position on 107.52 points.
Canadian pair Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir won the gold medal with 207.32 points.
