FIFA president Sepp Blatter says soccer's governing body will try to remove the over-age rule for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

"We will ask the FIFA Congress in 2006 whether they will abolish the three over-age players," Blatter today a news conference today.

Since 1996 the under-23 age limit has been accompanied by a rule allowing three over-age players to take part.

Some nations have decided not to send any over-age players for the Olympics, persuading FIFA to review the rule.

Argentina captured the gold medal in the last Olympics in Athens with a 1-0 win over Paraguay.
