Five medals a possibility on Day 11

Five medals are up for grabs on Day 11 of the Youth Olympic Games, the last day of competition for the Aussies.

Five medals are up for grabs on Day 11 of the Youth Olympic Games, the last day of competition for the Aussies.

In the afternoon, Jess Fox and Scott Smith will contest the canoe/kayak slalom event. Fox is favourite to win the gold while Smith is hoping for a medal.

Across the water at the International Convention Centre, Damien Hooper (75kg) and Brett Maher (64kg) will have their chance to join a decorated list of Australian champion fighters like Anthony Mundine, Jeff Fenech and Lionel Rose.

And later that night the boys’ hockey team will face Pakistan in a battle for gold and glory at Sengkang Hockey Stadium.

The boys had a sensational run of round matches dominating all their opponents to enter the final as the only undefeated team. If their round match (AUS 5 – PAK 2) is anything to go from, the crowd is in for a fast-paced thrilling match of hockey.

Also competing on Day 11 is table tennis player Lily Phan, who will again team up with El Salvador’s Luis Mejia as they look to claim their first win as they playoff for positions 17-32 at Singapore’s Indoor Stadium

While Australia’s sailors will again be in the water as they look to push up the overall standings on the last day of competition. The day will feature the medal race, with double points on offer and the opportunity for Mark Spearman, 12th, and Madison Kennedy to push up the leader board.
