FOOTBALL: The Olyroos' road to the Rio 2016 Games has been laid out after the Under-23 Asian Championship qualifying draw was revealed in Malaysia.
Myanmar, Hong Kong and Taiwan have been placed in Group F alongside Australia, who are the top seeds.
The top-ranked side from the group is guaranteed a place at the 2016 Under-23 Asian Championship in Qatar, which also serves as the qualifying tournament for the Olympics.
After failing to qualify for the 2012 London Games, Olyroos coach Aurelio Vidmar said he was keen to make amends - beginning with three wins in qualifiers.
"We want to rectify the wrongs from last time," he said.
"The group's really positive and that's really important, to be in a good headspace.
"We look forward to having a strong campaign, topping the group and moving onwards."
The Olyroos enjoyed mixed results in a high-quality Under-23 tournament in China last month, beating Korea 1-0, drawing with Brazil 2-2 and losing to China 3-1.
Come March 2015 and the Asian Championship qualifiers, Australia's opposition will drop in class - battling countries ranked 137, 163 and 188 in the world.
The London Olympics were the first time Australia wasn't represented in Olympicsoccer in 30 years.
