Australian men's football coach Aurelio Vidmar expects faultless preparation to reap rewards in Wednesday's start to the final round of qualifying for the 2012 London Games.

Australian men's football coach Aurelio Vidmar expects faultless preparation to reap rewards in Wednesday's start to the final round of qualifying for the 2012 London Games.

Vidmar's team host United Arab Emirates at Adelaide's Hindmarsh Stadium as 12 Asian nations begin jostling for coveted Olympic spots.

Australia meet UAE, Iraq and Uzbekistan in home and away matches culminating next March.

"It's really important that you start with a home win," Vidmar told reporters on Tuesday.

"If we can win all our home games, that will obviously put us in a pretty good position when we go away.

"They're not easy games, it's a very very difficult group ... but I'm very confident that this Australian group can qualify."

Vidmar said the Australian training camp in Adelaide for the past week lifted his confidence.

"We really haven't missed a beat to be honest, so I have been really pleased with the whole preparation," he said.

"Our group as a whole is what is going to get us through, we have got a lot of good players in key areas ... they're extra eager to get themselves to London."

Vidmar said UAE would be difficult opponents but he was more focused on playing to Australia's strengths.

"We don't want to pay too much focus on them, and really focus on what we need to do," he said.

"If we can play the way I know we can play, we'll create a lot of chances and hopefully be on the right side of putting a few in the back of the net."

Australia, Japan and South Korea are favoured to win outright Asian qualification berths for the Olympics.

Nations are divided into three groups of four with winners advancing to London.

Runners-up in each group play a three-way round-robin tournament, with the winner playing an African nation to advance to the Games.

Soccer is played as an under 23 tournament at the Olympics although rules allow for three over-age players.
