An additional four Australian athletes have had their place at the Vancouver Olympic Games confirmed today. Moguls skier Britteny Cox, ski cross athletes Scott Kneller and Katya Crema, and snowboard cross racer Stephanie Hickey.

Cox at just 15 made her breakthrough into the World Cup circuit just this month at Deer Valley, USA. She recorded results of 34th and 29th, securing her a berth on the Australian Olympic Winter Team for Vancouver 2010.

She is two months and 23 days younger than snowboarder Scotty James whose selection was confirmed on Monday.

Kneller, 20, has shown strong form previously on the Cypress Mountain venue. In just the fifth World Cup of his career, the Jindabyne athlete finished 15th in 2009 at the Olympic test event.

Former alpine racer Crema has a best placing of 23rd in world cup events this season. When the 21-year-old architecture student is not training and racing on snow she refines her starts on a replica gate built by her grandfather at her Victorian home.

Melbourne snowboarder Hickey’s strong season is highlighted by a 15th place at the World Cup in Chapelco, Argentina. The 24-year-old has since completed three more World Cups, with her top 30 placings securing her place in Vancouver.

All will make their Olympic debut thanks to a reallocation of quota spots by the international ski federation. Vancouver 2010 is the first time ski cross events have been contested at the Olympic Games.

Australia did not receive a spot for a four-man bobsleigh team which means Sydney brakeman Anthony Ryan will not join the four athletes named in the two two-man teams earlier in the week.

At present 33 athletes have had their selection confirmed, two (Jenny Owens and Ramone Cooper) are selected subject to a satisfactory medical assessment on or by 31 January 2010 and 13 are still in contention waiting for further quota allocations.
