Catch up on Team Australia’s day 13 in Snowboarding and Cross-Country Skiing at the Gangwon 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in the Republic of Korea.
Snowboard Halfpipe – Valuable experience for up and comers
Amelie Haskell, Sascha Elvy and Tai Vaughan, the last three Team Australia athletes to enter the Gangwon 2024 competition, have put in a commendable effort to their halfpipe events to place 11th, 12th and 14th respectively.
Amelie put down a 47.25 score on her first run, which turned out to be her best run as a small mistake on the backside five in run two delivered a 31.75 second score.

In the format where the 10 athletes with the highest individual score advance to the final, Amelie missed out on qualifying by just 1.50 points. Sascha also had her highest scoring effort in the first run, 42.75, and finished with two scores above 40 points.
Tai Vaughan showed improvement from his first round 40.00, and that’s what the competition asked for as Tai needed a 58.00 or higher to qualify for finals, but the 43.50 second run wasn’t enough.
It didn’t put a dampener on his day, as he was “stoked” to deliver two clean runs in a higher level of competition.
"It's like a whole different level and it's super fun to compete for Australia,” Tai said. "Today is the best I've snowboarded in a while.”
Cross-Country Skiing – Aussies mixing it in the mixed relay
Competing against 23 nations in the mixed relay Team Australia, made up of Rosie Franzke, Satara Moon, Clancy Merrick Harvey and Samuel Johnson, placed 17th at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre.

With each athlete skiing 5km in the quickest possible time, Australia finished the 20km in 59:40.8 to closing the curtain on their Winter Youth Olympic adventure. Team Germany took the gold in 53:07.3.
