Australia (Green) and Great Britain are locked at 286 apiece in the team event being played at the Twin Creeks Golf Club in Luddenham.
Golfers from Australia, New Zealand, China and Great Britain fought through the scorching 30 degree heat on the first of the four day 72-hole stoke play competition.
Brother and sister combination, Kevin and Celina Yuan from Sydney, finished with a score of 69 in the group competition - the best of the Australian team.
"We prepared together and motivated each other," Kevin said.
The 15-year-old also placed fifth in the individual competition with a score of 69, three under par.
His sister placed third in the women’s individual competition with a score of 72.
Great Britain’s Ashton Turner and Gabriella Cowley, each placed first in the men’s and women’s individual competitions with respective scores of 64 and 71.
Turner impressed the crowd with his final score eight under par.
Georgia Hall, also from Great Britain, finished with a score of 71, placing second in the women’s event.
The AYOF golf tournament goes until Sunday.
