Hannes Grimus has skied to 30th place in slalom at the World Junior Championships in Formigal, Spain.
In a field of 94 skiers, Grimus finished 5.4 seconds behind the favorite and race winner, Marcell Hirscher, but his second run time was just 1.4 seconds behind the Austrian.
Christian Geiger was also representing Australia in the event, but did not finish the first run.
Grimus followed up with 40th place in the super-G in a field of 89 skiers. The Mt Buller racer recorded a time of one minute 24.65 seconds, 3.63 seconds behind the winner, Andreas Sander of Germany
In other results, Grimus failed to finish in the downhill and the giant slalom, while Katya Crema also went out in the downhill and in the second run of the slalom.
Geiger skied to a 41st place in the GS, Crema was 57th in the women's GS and did not start in the women's super-G as she was competing in the Ski Cross World Cup in Sierra Nevada the day before.
Wet and soft snow made conditions very difficult for those starting at the back of the field, minimising any chance of a good result.
