GOLF: The third men's golf major for 2015 will commence at St Andrews in Scotland on Thursday. Fifteen Australians are in the field to tackle the famous Old Course.
Of the four majors this is the tournament where Australians have had the most success, however the last Australian to win The Open Championship was Greg Norman in 1993. Two years earlier Ian Baker-Finch, who will be the team leader for the golf section of the 2016 Australian Olympic Team, won the prestigious event.
Golf Australia have compiled how each of the 15 Australians qualified for the famous setting in St Andrews Scotland for 2015.
The Open prides itself on being the most international of golf's majors. Seven Australian’s took advantage of this and qualified this year via the Open Qualifying Series which is a group of events played around the world including the Australian Open.
