SKELETON: The Skeleton World Cup circuit has wrapped up for 2017 with Aussie skeleton athletes John Farrow, Jackie Narracott and Dean Timmings facing tough conditions and hot competition in Innsbruck.
Jackie Narracott said her race on the Austrian track did not go to plan, resulting in the Queenslander finishing in 21st place.
"I made one mistake into corner 2 which cost me everything," Narracott said.
"Unfortunately with our sport it’s not entirely how many mistakes you make but where you make them, a detail that has been rather hard to take at times lately."
The 26-year-old tried to look on the bright side, focusing on the positive aspects of her race.
"That being said I still managed to limit the damage and get as much out of the run as I could. Igls isn’t a particularly strong or favourite track of mine so I’m happy it’s done and that it was still a relatively positive experience."
Narracott will now head to her UK training base in Bath to rest, recover and prepared for the final two qualification races, looking ahead at the 2018 Winter Olympics.
"It’s going to go incredibly quick from here and I can’t wait," Narracott said.
For fellow Aussie, John Farrow, Innsbruck also proved to be a hard competition where he finished in 26th spot, ahead of teammate Dean Timmings in 33rd.
"Another tough race with our practice cut short for a day, resulting in racing interupted previously scheduled training," Farrow said.
"It was a race I easily could have given up on but I stayed focused and mentally pulled myself out of a funk and believe I performed the best I could on the day."
The Sochi Olympian will also use the festive break to rest and recover before returning to competition in 2018.
"Looking forward to a break for Christmas and coming back strong in the New Year."
The World Cup circuit will resume in 2018 in Altenberg, Germany where athletes will take to the track on January 5th.
