SSA Snowboard athlete Jo Shaw, has made a good start to her Northern Hemisphere season, with a top ten result in the Parallel Giant Slalom NorAm event at Copper Mountain, USA, against a field containing some strong World Cup riders. The event was won by Michelle Gorgone of the United States from team-mate Lisa kosglow, with Nicole Sauerbreij of the Netherlands in third.
Shaw finished ahead of world number 19 Stacia Hookom, and just three places behind dual world championships silver medallist Rosey Fletcher and four places shy of Sweden’s Sara Fischer, the number six ranked rider in the world. Gorgone was ranked 14th in the world last season.
The result will no doubt give Shaw confidence before she begins her world cup season campaign. The first PGS World Cup event is scheduled for Kronplatz on December 4
