Australia’s leading male halfpipe rider, Nate Johnstone, will miss out on competing at the Vancouver Winter Olympics after sustaining an ankle injury in training for the Games.

Johnstone had a mishap in a routine halfpipe drill at a training camp at the Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord, Michigan, last week, sustaining an ankle fracture and a twisted ankle.

It is a terrible blow for the 19-year-old AIS rider, who finished last season ranked number two on the FIS World Cup snowboard rankings.
