The Kookaburras have come from behind to win the third match of the four-test series against Korea, their 2-1 win in front of a parochial Rockhampton crowd.

Trailing 1-0 just before half time, despite dominating the match, the Kookaburras kicked into gear in the 31st minute, piling on two unanswered goals in two minutes to take the lead.

Before that, Korea had held the lead for 15 minutes after opening the scoring in the 14th minute from a counter attack that caught the Australian defence off guard.

The goal stunned the Rockhampton crowd but they were soon spurred into action after a great attacking effort from Grant Schubert, in the Kookaburras half, saw him intercept the ball, turn and drive the ball back into the circle, drawing a penalty corner.

Troy Elder's drag flick levelled the scores, beating the keeper on the left post.

Two minutes later, he was celebrating with the crowd again when he got on the end of a long hit into the circle and deflected the ball high into the net for his fourth goal in three matches, giving the Kookaburras the lead just before the break.

After half time the Kookaburras controlled much of the play again but couldn't break the Korean defence.

"1-0 down we were really challenged," said National Coach, Barry Dancer.

"We the better of the early period and we responded with some very positive results. In the second half we were a little conservative but I was happy with our midfield contribution tonight. We shared the ball around a lot more and remain composed throughout the match...we now have a good foundation to build on."

The last of the four-match series will be played on Friday at 7:30pm in Rockhampton.
