GYMNASTICS: The journey begins from Sunday, 7 July at the 2013 Australian Gymnastics Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre, for gymnasts across the country aiming to wear the green and gold at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and ultimately, the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Running until Thursday, 18 July, Sydneysiders can cheer on more than 1,200 of Australia’s best gymnasts from a range of age groups.

Gymnastics Australia Chief Executive Officer, Mark Rendell, said audiences will be amazed by the extraordinary routines being performed.

“With the start of a new Olympic cycle it's time for the next generation to make their mark against our returning 2012 Olympianss and Commonwealth Games Champions. Spectators will be inspired as our leading gymnasts stake their claim for the title of National Champion,” Mr Rendell said.

“Make sure you don’t miss out on seeing Australia’s best gymnasts compete across a multitude of Gymsports, including Men’s Artistic Gymnastics, Women’s Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Trampoline Gymnastics and Acrobatic Gymnastics.”

Australia’s favourite gymnasts, including World Champion Lauren Mitchell and Commonwealth Games medallist, Josh Jefferis, will be at the Championships to mentor their successors and share their experiences of life at the highest level.

Australia’s London 2012 Olympic Games Trampoline Gymnastics representative, Blake Gaudry, will compete to defend his National Champion crown.

Commonwealth Games Gold medallist Danielle Prince will compete to regain the National Champion crown which she last won in 2011 before she departs Australia to compete at the Summer University Games.
