Australian Winter Olympian Emma Lincoln-Smith has taken her fourth top 10 finish in succession in the Women’s Skeleton World Cup, in the process moving up to seventh in the overall standings.
The AIS Scholarship holder had another consistent performance at Lake Placid in the United States this morning, finishing ninth.
Her Australian team mate, and fellow AIS Scholarship holder, Lucy Chaffer, placed 17th.
The event was won by Marion Thees of Germany, 0.33 seconds ahead of Shelley Rudman of Great Britain, with the winner of the last two rounds, Anja Huber, of Germany, third another 0.20 seconds back.
Lincoln-Smith was 1.29 seconds behind Thess. After finishing sixth in last week’s event at Park City, the Narrabeen athlete was hoping to take her first top five result of the season in Lake Placid.
She was eighth on the first run down the 1455 metre course, but a time 0.09 of a second slower on the second run saw her slip to ninth place.
Chaffer, meanwhile, was 17th on both her runs, and is also 17th in the overall World Cup standings.
Round five of the Women’s Skeleton World Cup will be held in Austria on January 15.
