The team of Alex McEwan, Mark McNee, Stephen Lee and Josh Marden skated a time of 7 minutes 11.791 seconds to finish 5.556 seconds behind China, with France taking the second qualifying spot for the semifinals. China went on to take the gold medal, with Australia finishing in ninth place overall.
One of the best individual performances came from Josh Marden in the 1000m, placing second in his heat before being eliminated in the quarter finals, but finishing in 14th place overall. Alex McEwan finished 16th overall in the 1500m.
