My name is Russ Henshaw, I'm 22 years old and I am a professional skier. I started skiing at the age of 3 and soon after, at the age of 7, began to race.
BLOG: My name is Russ Henshaw, I'm 22 years old and I am a professional skier. I started skiing at the age of 3 and soon after, at the age of 7, began to race. I raced until I was 12 and then found what I was truly passionate about, freestyle skiing. Since deciding I wanted to jump instead of race, I have never looked back.
I have been a professional since I was 15 years old and travelling the globe since I was 14. My competitive nature has led me to some of the biggest competitions in the world, including, X Games and the Dew Tour - where I have had success throughout the years.

As of late I have been working towards, what I am sure will be the biggest competition of my life, the Olympics. This season just past was the first year of qualifying for ski slopestyle and it's definitely been a challenge. I was on a roll at the beginning of the season with a few podiums under my belt. I had a lot working for me and felt like I was in a good position coming into the next few events.
I ended up crashing in the next event, X Games, and tweaked my knee severely. Once I had figured out what had happened and got home to see DR's and Specialists, we figured out what the plan of attack was and I worked my butt off in the gym to be as strong as I could as fast as I could. I managed to make it back in 4 weeks and into the back end of the season. Despite the injury I managed to finish 7th for FIS slopestyle (only attending two FIS events due to the injury) and 2nd overall in the world for the AFP slopestyle world ranking.

Looking into the future I have an intense year ahead. I am training in gym and on snow as much as possible in the lead up to next season, which I am sure will be the biggest season of my life.
I am looking forward to sharing my path to the games with all the high's and low's I experience along the way.
