GYMNASTICS: Australian Women's Artistic Gymnastics star Lauren Mitchell will compete for the first time since the London 2012 Olympic Games when she takes to the Aspire Dome in Doha at the FIG World Challenge Cup this week (26-28 March).

The Perth-based 2010 World Champion on Floor has been recovering from injury and focusing on university studies since the 2012 Olympic Games.

Part of an Australian team of four competing in Doha, 22-year-old Mitchell will contest Floor and Beam as she builds for what looms as a busy national and international schedule in 2014.

Following the World Challenge Cup Mitchell will compete at the 2014 Australian Gymnastics Championships in Melbourne (21 May - 1 June) where she will be vying for selection to the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.

Mitchell won four gold medals at the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games in the Team, All Around, Uneven Bars and Beam events and claimed silver on Floor.
Also representing Australia in Doha are Mary-Anne Monckton, Alexandra Eade and Olivia Vivian.

Monckton, a 19-year-old from Melbourne, will contest Beam, while 16-year-old Eade, also from Melbourne, will contest Floor.

Perth-based Vivian, 24, who competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, will contest the Uneven Bars.

Gymnasts from 18 countries will take part in the women's events at the 7th FIG World Challenge Cup. Australia is not competing in the Men's Artistic Gymnastics event.
