Australia’s bobsleigh athletes continue to impress in America’s Cup competition, Astrid Loch-Wilkinson collecting her second consecutive podium finish and Chris Spring moving up to fourth place in the second round of racing in Park City.
Loch-Wilkinson and team-mate Cecilia McIntosh claimed the two-women bronze medal with a time of one minute 44.92 seconds, 1.92 seconds behind race winners Lisa Szabon and Cindy Marshall of Canada.
Fellow Canadians Mellissa These and Tamara Dixon took the silver.
In the men’s event, Chris Spring and brakeman Duncan Pugh improved on their previous days result, climbing one place closer to the podium with a time that was just 0.83 off the winner’s mark of one minute 39.85 seconds, and just a tenth of a second off bronze.
Jeremy Rolleston and Duncan Harvey were back in 17th place, while Travis Sheehy and Shane McKenzie were in 20th position and Heath Spence and Beau Lewis were 28th.
A third round of two-man and two-women sliding will be held tomorrow morning Australian time.
