To launch the podcast, Tim Gilbert chatted to five-time Beach Volleyball Olympian, Nat Cook.
Cook famously won Beach Volleyball gold on Bondi Beach with her partner Kerri Pottharst at Sydney 2000, but in the first episode of My Sydney 2000, she reveals how a group of nuns may have been their good luck charm for Olympic gold.
She also shares how the duo went their separate ways after winning bronze at Atlanta 1996, only to join forces again for the home Games, and how Nat and Kerri paved the way for Cathy Freeman to win the country’s 100th gold medal in Sydney.
Cook was the first Australian woman to represent her country at five Olympic Games – she shares her journey from her debut in 1996, and the highs and lows of her journey to her final Games at London 2012.
