After losing both her parents at a very young age, triple Olympian Peta Edebone found solace in the game of Softball.
However, her Olympic dream had a very rocky start, when she broke her foot in the training camp right before her debut Games at Atlanta 1996.
Gritting her teeth because she didn’t know if it was the only chance she’d have at an Olympic Games, Edebone played and helped Australia win a bronze medal.
Four years later, Edebone created history when she set an Olympic record in Sydney when she hit four home runs in the tournament, the most memorable being the match-winner against the United States in the preliminary round.
Edebone added a second bronze medal to her collection in front of a home crowd at Sydney 2000, before captaining the team to a historical silver medal at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.
With over 300 international caps to her name, Edebone shares her remarkable story with Tim Gilbert on the My Sydney 2000 Podcast.
