Peta's Story

1969 -

Peta Edebone is one of the greatest hitters ever to represent Australia in softball. The Victorian won a medal at each of her three Olympic appearances: bronze in 1996 and 2000 and silver in 2004. Edebone’s ability at the plate was vital to Australia’s medal campaigns. She was captain of the team in Athens when it reached the final. She also set an Olympic record in Sydney when she hit four home runs in the tournament, the most memorable being the match-winner against the United States in the preliminary round. At her home Olympics Edebone led all players in home runs, runs batted in and slugging percentage. Only three softball players, Natalie Ward, Tanya Harding and Melanie Roche, have participated in more Olympics for Australia than Edebone. During her career she played more than 300 international games for Australia.
