SKELETON: Jaclyn Narracott’s festive season training program paid off this weekend when she finished 17th at the Altenberg World Cup in Germany.
With a new Personal Best start time under her belt, the 26-year-old recorded her two fastest runs of the week – 1:00.41 seconds in Run 1 and 1:00.34 in Run 2 – for a total time of 2:00.75.
Narracott was 3.01 off the pace of local slider and current world number one Jacqueline Leolling. It was a German trifecta in Altenberg with Tina Hermann coming in second and Anna Fernstaedt rounding out the podium in third.
Narracott is pleased with the progress and consistency she is demonstrating in the lead up to next months’ Winter Olympics.
“I’m really happy with the race,” Narracott said. “I finished 17th which is the same as last year.
“The most pleasing thing was that I showed how much I’ve grown as a slider. I finally had another start PB and showed the consistency that I’ve had through training.”

Having bumped up her world ranking by one place to 17th, the Queenslander was pleased she could improve on her 21st place finish at the Innsbruck World Cup just before Christmas, but said there are a few elements she’s still working on perfecting in the final two events before PyeongChang.
“I didn’t quite achieve all of my goals (not enough time) but it was definitely another step in the right direction.
“We’ve got the long drive to St Moritz [Switzerland] today, and I can’t wait to get on to the track and go fast!”
Narracott has just arrived in Switzerland to compete on the only natural track left in the world at the St Moritz World Cup at the end of the week. She will then wrap up her pre-Games season at the Königssee World Cup on January 19.
