The NSWIS/SSA National Development Mogul Team has concluded its pre season camp with some very encouraging results at the BC Southern Zone Championships in Apex Mountain, Canada.
In a clean sweep, Ramone Cooper placed first and Tom Lovick second in the men’s junior division, with Rob Lovick and Emma Chapman Davies both placing first in the youth division.
Apex mountain turned on a fantastic event on their new moguls course which will host the FIS World Cup finals in March 2006. Not only were the results impressive but more importantly the high level of scores recieved from the judges.
In the duals event on Sunday the course was very difficult to ski, with 50kg rocks having to be pulled out of the course due to lack of snow. Again the athletes produced outstanding results, with Ramone placing first, Emma Chapman-Davies first, Tom Lovick fourth and Rob Lovick fifth. .
NSWIS Head Coach Peter “Toppa” Topalovic commented after the race, “At this point in time I could not be happier with the athletes, we are in significantly better shape now than at this time last year”.
The team are now packing their bags ready to depart for the Czech Republic on Tuesday where they will contest the first Europa Cup event in Dolni Morava this coming weekend.
