The Olyroos have called up A-League defenders Curtis Good and Ben Kantarovski for the weekend match which threatens to make or break their Olympic Games qualifying hopes.
Australia's bid to make the London Olympics soccer tournament stuttered with a 0-0 draw in their Group C match against Iraq in Qatar on Tuesday.
With two draws from their opening two matches, they must beat group leaders Uzbekistan at Parramatta Stadium on Sunday to aid their hopes of topping the group and qualifying automatically for London.
Melbourne Heart youngster Good has been one of the most impressive first-year players in the competition this season.
And Kantarovski has also started the season well for Newcastle Jets.
They will replace Heart defender Aziz Behich, who is suspended for the match after picking up a yellow card against Iraq, and English-based defender Cameron Edwards.
The Olyroos, who drew their opening match against the UAE in September, were forced to share the points yet again thanks to the efforts of Iraqi goalkeeper Jalal Hassan.
Despite the Olyroos dominating possession in a match played in high winds, Hassan saved four clear-cut Australian chances to help his team gain their first point.
After a good chance to Mate Dugandzic was saved they were presented with two golden chances in a space of a few seconds but James Brown found Hassan equal to the task.
Brown dribbled past the last Iraqi defender in the 39th minute but his shot from six yards was blocked by Hassan.
The ball came back to Brown, but he couldn't believe his eyes as his second shot too was deflected by the alert goalkeeper.
The Australians kept on attacking and were presented with another opportunity a minute later but Sebastian Ryall's header off a chip from 25 yards was grabbed by Hassan.
Coach Aurelio Vidmar was disappointed his team was again unable to find the back of the net.
"Tonight we lost three points, we had very good chances in the first half and we should have had the game won by halftime," he said.
"We controlled the game for most of the 90 minutes ... (but) the group is still very much open and we have an important match against Uzbekistan and we need to take three points."
The winner of each of the three Asian groups automatically progresses to the Olympics.
The second-placed teams enter a three-way playoff for the right to play an African team for a Games berth.
