ROWING: The only competitor to contest two events at the Olympic rowing regatta in London, Kim Crow was rewarded for her remarkable efforts with a silver and a bronze medal.
Trouble is, soon after returning home she accidentally dropped the bronze, snapping off the ribbon clasp. But courtesy of the British High Commission in Canberra, help was at hand.
When Deputy High Commissioner Tony Brennan learned from the ACT Olympic Council of Crow’s plight, he contacted LOCOG, who sent over a replacement medal in a diplomatic bag.
At a light-hearted ceremony at the High Commission on 11 October, attended by Kim’s friends and representatives of Rowing Australia, Mr Brennan presented the champion sculler with her new medal.
