Jenny Owens has qualified in 12th place in the ski cross World Cup in Deer Valley.

Owens recorded one minute 13.18 seconds for the kilometre plus course, 2.19 seconds behind the fastest qualifier, four-time World Cup winner Ophelie David of France.

Owens was disappointed with her run, touching  her hand down twice during the run.

The Ski and Snowboard Australia skier faces a tough quarter final, with David in her group.

Perisher Blue skier Samantha Kennedy was also in the field, finishing just outside the 16-woman finals in 18th place, in what was her debut appearance in World Cup.

The ski cross final will be held early Sunday morning AEDT.
