Jenny Owens has finished in ninth place in a ski cross World Cup in Grindlewald, after adverse snow conditions forced the cancellation of the finals rounds.
The 30 year-old AIS skier recorded a time of one minute and .18 of a second, 3.89 seconds behind fastest qualifier Ophelie David of France, but just .73 of a second slower than the second fastest qualifier, David’s team-mate Marion Josserand.
With bad weather and dangerous course conditions ending any chance of head-to-head finals, the qualifying placings stood as the final result.
Ski and Snowboard Australia’s Katya Cream finished in 32nd place, Sami Kennedy was 39th, while the men’s event was cancelled.
“Jen made a couple of mistakes in qualifying which pushed her back down the field,” said OWI Ski Cross Coach Matt Lyons.
“We’re looking forward to the next event.”
The penultimate event of the season will be contested in Meiringen-Hasliberg, Switzerland, on Sunday night Australian time.
Owens is now just outside the top ten of the World Cup standings, in eleventh position on 198 points.
David sits on top of the points table on 680 points, 296 clear of her nearest rival, with the crystal globe firmly in her possession for an amazing sixth consecutive year.
