Poor snow conditions in much of Europe forced the cancellation of the two moguls events scheduled to follow the Ruka World Cup – Tignes and Alpe d’Huez. In order to make up one of those events, there will be two moguls competitions in the Italian resort of Madonna di Campiglio this weekend, with the OWI team set to build on their promising start to the season.
Jane Sexton, rookie Nick Fisher and Michael Robertson were all just outside a finals berth in Ruka, the trio finishing in the top 15. For Fisher, 14th place was a superb result in his debut World Cup competition, and Jane’s 13th was also a personal best in World Cup.
The team stayed in Finland after the cancellation of the two French events. After two days off following the Ruka competition the team was back to training on the World Cup course, improving skills in speed and jumps.
Manuela Berchtold is suffering some knee soreness and has not been able to train every day but will be fit for the competition in Italy at the weekend, and Michael Robertson has almost recovered from an ankle injury which delayed his start to the season.
