Paul Murray has recorded Australia’s best ever cross country skiing World Cup result.

A member of the national team based at Falls Creek, Murray placed in the top 30 in the Men's 1.2km Classic Sprint at Reit im Winkl, Germany, yesterday.

Paul Murray, who skis for the Falun Borlange Ski Club in Sweden (during the northern hemisphere winter) broke the world 100metre sprint record last year at Falls Creek and he's currently sitting in second place in the Sweden Cup sprint series.

Fellow Australian Andrew Mock, competing in his first World Cup race, was further back in 63rd place.

Mock and Murray, the in-form Australian sprinter, now travel to Oberstdorf in Germany to join the Australian Cross Country Ski Team to compete in the Nordic 2005 World Championship events held between 16-27 February 2005.
