Bree Munro has matched her career best aerial skiing performance, placing sixth in the opening World Cup of the season in China.

In the absence of AIS/OWI team-mates Lydia Lassila and Jacqui Cooper, Munro posted a two jump score of 158.62 to grab the honours for Australia.

The Chinese dominated their home event in Changchun, Guo Xinxin taking the gold on 206.09 points ahead of Li Nina and Xu Mengtao.

Australia’s sole representative in the men’s event, David Morris, missed a place in the final, scoring 97.40 points for his triple twisting triple somersault to finish 17th, the best result of his fledgling career by ten places.

A second aerials event will be contested tomorrow at the same venue.
