Olympic swimming legend Kieren Perkins attended the Oceania Shooting Championships in Sydney on Wednesday, to watch the action and meet members of the Australian Shooting Team.

Perkins, a triple Olympian with two gold and two silver medals, will be in London with the 2012 Australian Olympic Team as an Athlete Liaison Officer. Shooting is one of the sports he will be working with in the lead-up to and during the Games.

Perkins, John Eales, Layne Beachley and Steve Waugh are the four legends who will assist athletes and officials through the highs and lows of the London Olympic experience.

Perkins met with many athletes and officials at the Sydney International Shooting Centre. Shooting is a sport that Australia expects to reach the podium on in London continuing the recent trend of nine medals since 1996.

After three of four days Australian shooters had won 12 quota places for London 2012 to add to the four achieved previously.

Along with the four ALOs, dual rowing gold medallist Nick Green leads the Team as Chef de Mission with Chris Fydler and Kitty Chiller as deputies. Laurie Lawrence will once again be the Team Motivator. All up there are over 300 support staff across coaches, medical, media, athlete services and administration.
