Damon Hayler and Alex Pullin have both qualified for the head-to-head rounds of the snowboard cross World Cup in Sungwoo, Korea.
OWI Head Snowboard Coach Ben Wordsworth reports on the qualification round:
The competition started today with qualification here in Sungwoo. Both athletes rode well all week in training and came out strong today in qualifying.
Alex put down a very respectable fastest time in the best of two rounds qualifying to take 13th position in a time of one minute 13.18 seconds, 2.62 seconds behind the top time of Radoslav Zidek of Slovakia.
Damon did not ride as fast but still finished in a respectable 20th position which will see him into the heats for tomorrow’s race.
Both guys are feeling strong and are liking the Sungwoo course. This will be the location for the 2009 World Championships, so they are looking for a good result here to set them up for next year’s major event.
