Ami Wallace fronts up for a Q & A session during a training break in Calgary.

1. You have proven yourself as a bit of a speedster on the skeleton team, what is your sporting background"

My sporting background ranges from backyard cricket when I was a young whippersnapper to touch football, hockey and even rugby in my high school years, but my main sport is track sprinting, specialising in 100m, 200m and 60m when possible.

2. Racing down an icy track at speeds of over 100kph is a daunting thought for some people. What were you thinking just before you had your first run"

Before my first run, unreliable sources tell me I was “packing it” (you know who you are) but really I was trying my hardest to be calm, but a nervous excitement was hard to deny.

3. And after your first run"

After my first run, I was mixed with contrasting feelings, feeling of “oh, was that it” and “OH MY GOD that was AWESOME”, so I guess both my wildest dreams had and hadn’t come true, but let me assure you they all came true after the first run from the top.

4. What are the best three things about skeleton"

1. The feeling you get when you have a smooth run, even just a smooth corner or straight, feels like you are gliding.

2. The OUTFIT, the sleek sexy and slender body suits that shine in all the wrong places

3. The SPEED! Token I know, but its just a crazy feeling when you realise you have been going in excess of 112km/hr.

5. What is the worst thing about skeleton"

Carrying those heavy and misshaped sleds up and down stairs, in and out of cars, in and out of buildings……grrr.

6. Even though it is early days, do you have any short or long term goals for yourself in skeleton"

Short or long term goals both include to improve and to keep enjoying this sport, and for the Australian girls to one day become a threat to other nations.
