Olympic sailing gold medallist Malcolm Page is set to unleash some secret moves on his rivals at next year's London Olympics.

Olympic sailing gold medallist Malcolm Page is set to unleash some secret moves on his rivals at next year's London Olympics.

Page will be out to defend the men's 470 gold he won at Beijing in 2008 with Nathan Wilmot.

For the past three years he has teamed with Mathew Belcher and together the world No.1 ranked sailors hold all the major titles in the men's 470 class.

They will tune-up at the international sailing World Cup leg in Melbourne from November 6-12, followed by December's world championships in Perth.

Page said that despite being clear favourites for the Olympics he and Belcher were continuing to improve in vital areas.

"We've been working heavily on equipment as well and techniques and I'd like to think we have some surprises come the Olympic Games," Page said on Tuesday.

"Some of the things we are hiding and working on we will only bring out when we need to.

"And there are still a lot of things to work on after the world championships in Perth."

Australian Olympic head coach Victor Kovalenko - known as "The Medalmaker" - also has a classified list.

"Victor's got a black book that he won't show us, even, of stuff that we have up our sleeve," he said.

"But the way Mat and I are sailing at the moment, the way we are growing as a team, I see there is still so much more potential for us to develop between now and the Games.

"I believe we can be so much above the fleet, which we already are by showing that at the moment with our world ranking and our results."

Page said the key factor in the team's success had been communication.

"It's becoming more natural, more in sync without actually having to talk," he said.
