Jo Shaw has made the first top 20 World Cup result of her career, finishing 19th in snowboard cross in Arosa, Switzerland.

Jo Shaw has made the first top 20 World Cup result of her career, finishing 19th in snowboard cross in Arosa, Switzerland.

The 21-year-old Skiing Australia rider recorded a 43.78 second qualifying run, just over three seconds behind leading qualifier Karine Ruby of France, but only .61 of a second outside qualifying for the final.

Ruby went on to win the event, the 67th World Cup victory of her remarkable career.

Shaw’s previous best result was 21st in the World Cup held in Whistler, Canada, in December 2003.

A second snowboard cross is scheduled for Arosa on Saturday night, AEST.
