Skiing Australia rider Johanna Shaw competes this weekend in Tandadalen, Sweden, as the 2004 FIS Snowboard World Cup resumes.
Shaw placed 47th in both parallel slalom and parallel giant slalom in the opening event in Soelden in October, but she is a better rider than that result indicates.
Last season she had a best placing of 22nd in parallel slalom, in Whistler, and a best PGS return of 25th in Stoneham. Shaw’s best snowboard cross result came in the world championships in Kreischberg, Austria, a career best 21st place.
The Olympic Winter Institute halfpipe team of Holly Crawford, Frances Miller, Ben Mates, Andrew Burton and Mitchell Allan will not compete in the Scandinavian event this weekend, starting their 2004 campaign at the Whistler World Cup on December 11-13.
