Jo Shaw has continued to consolidate her place among the world's top 20 snowboarders, finishing in 18th place in the opening event of the season in Landgraaf, the Netherlands.

Shaw posted a total two run time of 51.51 seconds in the qualifying round of the parallel slalom event, missing a place in the 16-woman head-to-head final by just .26 of a second.

It was the best start to a season the Brighton 25-year-old has produced, and her second best PSL result.

The race was an indoor event held in Landgraaf's SnowWorld Ski Hall.

The gold went to Torino PGS silver medallist Amelie Kober of Germany from Heidi Neururer of Austria and local favourite Nicolien Sauerbreij.

The glacier above the Austrian town of Soelden will play host to the next event on the calendar, a PGS scheduled for October 20/21.

Australia will not be sending a team to the first halfpipe event on the calendar, in Saas-Fee on November 1.
