After the first four events of the 2004/05 short track World Cup, Australia is in eighth place overall, with the 5000m relay team ranked seventh.

In individual results, Mark McNee has been the best of the OWI team, ranked seventh overall, ninth in the 500m, 19th in the 1500m and 25th in the 1000m. Lachlan Hay is ranked 18th in 1500m.

None of the team, however, has yet made the semi-final round.

The relay team has improved its time every week, with the rookies of the team, Hay and Elliott Shriane skating very well.

The next round of the World Cup will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from February 4-6.
