FREESTYLE - SKI CROSS: Australians Anton Grimus and Scott Kneller have had impressive seeding runs in the Ski Cross competition on Day 13 at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

FREESTYLE - SKI CROSS: Australians Anton Grimus and Scott Kneller have had impressive seeding runs in the Ski Cross competition on Day 13 at Rosa Khutor Extreme Park.

Racing second last in the seeding, Kneller finished 24th in 1 minute, 18.58 seconds and will race in Heat 2 in the 1/8 Finals.

Kneller has made an incredible comeback from serious injury, having been subject to a medical clearance to take part in the event.

Australia’s only male representative in Vancouver for Ski Cross, Kneller now has a teammate in Olympic debutant Grimus.

Grimus heads into the next round seeded 5th after finishing the course in a blistering 1 minute, 16.82 seconds.

The 23-year-old will be right behind Kneller, racing in Heat 3.

Known for his bushy facial hair, Grimus’ cheer squad cheered him on decked out in head-to-toe green and gold with matching green beards.

The fastest man to navigate his way down was Sweden’s Victor Oeling Norberg in 1 minute, 15.59 seconds. Norberg is the 2013/14 World Cup leader and had his first World Cup victory in Sochi in February 2013, a test event for this course.

All competitors from seeding go through to the 1/8 Finals, with the first two skiers to cross the line in the 1/8 Finals advancing to the next phase of competition.

With six different winners over the course of seven 2013/14 World Cup races, the unpredictable nature of the event where four competitors race down an obstacle course means the medals are wide open.

The 1/8 Finals on Day 13 will start at 20:30 (AEDT).
