The former Australian Olympic short track representative finished in 17th place in Division B of the 500m, 2.16 seconds behind division winner Kuniomi Haneishi of Japan.
He was also 17th in the 1000m, this time 2.70 seconds away from Division B winner Derek Parra of the United States.
The overall winner of both events was Erben Wennemars of the Netherlands, the current 1000m World Cup points leader.
On the second day of competition, Goerlitz placed 18th in Division B of both events, but closer to the leaders’ times in each case - 1.95 seconds behind in the 500m and 2.26 seconds behind in the 1000m.
