Australian Youth Olympic Festival athletes set to experience a typical Sydney summer.
Bring your sunscreen, hats, umbrellas and jackets - athletes competing at the 2013 Australian Youth Olympic Festival this week are set to experience a typical Sydney summer.
Weather conditions for AYOF2013 are expected to vary; from 40 degrees one day, to the chance of a shower or two the next.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting a mild start to competition, with a top of 28 degrees and clouds on Wednesday.
Friday is set to be the hottest day. Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees in Penrith - the location for the Canoe/Kayak, Rowing and Triathlon competitions. As is normally the case Sydney Olympic Park where the majority of venues are will be a few degrees cooler and in the Sydney CBD near the coast it will be milder still where the 3 on 3 basketball will take place at Darling Harbour.
Things will cool down on the weekend, with showers possible across the Sydney area.
Bush fires which have been burning around the state of New South Wales over the past week will not affect athletes, as the nearest one is more than 400 kilometres away from Sydney.
